There is an incredible amount of food waste in SE London. We like to think of it as surplus food which can be used in our delicious recipes.

Chic Pea is a community food service providing creative meals for community events in the local area.

In May 2026 we provided an imaginative vegetarian buffet after the public Parish community meeting in Crockenhill and in June we organised a vegetarian community meal at the Quaker Meeting House in Bromley.

At the end of their visitor service food banks are often left with good quality surplus vegetables that cannot be stored .

Vegetables rescued from the waste stream can be transformed into imaginative community meals like the sumptuous vegetarian buffet pictured above.
